Shifts changed for workers to watch Cup
German auto giant Daimler, which produces Mercedes, says their night-shift factory workers will have their hours modified to allow them to watch Germany's World Cup semi-final against Spain.
"In all of our factories, the working hours of our staff will be tweaked or organised so that our employees have the chance to watch the semi-final," said a company statement on Monday.
On Wednesday, the company's largest factory Sindelfingen, in south-west Germany, the evening shift will end at 7.30pm instead of 10pm with the night shift starting at 1am instead of the usual 10pm.
Germany's clash with Spain in Durban gets underway at 8.30pm local time (0430 AEST) on Wednesday.
