Hodgson to miss at least eight NRL games
Wests Tigers captain Brett Hodgson will be sidelined for at least eight weeks after learning he will need surgery on facial fractures suffered in Monday night's 38-8 loss to Parramatta.
The fullback was expected to miss only three to four weeks but the club confirmed he would need surgery on multiple fractures to his left cheekbone and eye socket.
Hodgson suffered the injuries late in Monday night's match at Parramatta Stadium after he was almost knocked out in a head clash with Eels hooker PJ Marsh.
Hodgson will need to wait until swelling from the injury subsides before surgery.
Coach Tim Sheens is yet to name a new captain for the Tigers' match against Newcastle at EnergyAustralia Stadium on Sunday.
