Demons defender Holland dropped
Melbourne big man Ben Holland has had his joy at escaping suspension at the AFL tribunal tempered by his axing for Sunday's game against West Coast.
Holland walked free with a reprimand after pleading guilty to a misconduct charge at the tribunal on Tuesday night, however the Demons cut short his relief by dumping him for the game at Subiaco Oval.
The Demons also axed Matthew Warnock as they chase their first win of the season, while Brent Moloney was forced out with a groin injury, having battled osteitis pubis last year.
Melbourne recalled tough defender Matthew Whelan, youngster Ricky Petterd and the versatile Ryan Ferguson.
West Coast named premiership midfielder Chad Fletcher to play his first game of the season, making a statement at the selection table after their first loss this campaign.
The Eagles made three changes to the side which lost to Geelong last Sunday, with Fletcher, ruckman Dean Cox and young midfielder Mitch Morton coming into the line-up.
Steven Armstrong, Mark LeCras and Mitchell Brown were the players dropped.
Fletcher missed the start of the season with a knee strain and has battled to break into the side, while Cox has struggled with calf and thigh injuries.
Collingwood will debut a fifth young player this season, against the Western Bulldogs on Sunday at Telstra Dome.
Running defender Tyson Goldsack was given the official nod to play when the Magpies named their finalised side for the round eight game.
Goldsack, who turns 20 next week and who was taken with pick No.63 in last year's national draft, will become the fifth Magpie debutant this season after Daniel Nicholls, Alan Toovey, Shannon Cox and Brad Dick.
The Magpies also gave a reprieve to small forward Leon Davis, who returned to the side after serving a one-game suspension for leaving the team hotel in Adelaide in round seven without permission.
Goldsack and Davis replaced backmen Shane Wakelin and Sam Iles.
The Bulldogs retained the same side which beat Melbourne last Sunday.
Sydney and Port Adelaide both made two changes for Sunday's game at the SCG.
The Swans regained defenders Tadgh Kennelly and Sean Dempster from knee injuries, and dropped veteran Jared Crouch and first-year player Kieran Jack to make room.
The Power ruled out defender Jacob Surjan after he failed to overcome a corked thigh suffered during the week, and dropped Nathan Krakouer.
Steven Salopek and Brad Symes came into the side.
