Richmond full forward Matthew Richardson is free to play in Saturday night's match against the Kangaroos despite being found guilty of wrestling by the AFL tribunal.

Richardson pleaded not guilty to the wrestling charge from last weekend's match against the West Coast Eagles.

While he was found guilty by the tribunal, chairman Brian Collis only imposed a $4,000 fine as his penalty.

Richardson had been reported by both the emergency umpire and the goal umpire for wrestling with the West Coast's Darren Glass in the opening minutes of the match at Subiaco.

Glass pleaded guilty and as a first offender was fined a mandatory $1,200.

The case was the first of six to go before the tribunal.

Collingwood's Paul Licuria was later found not guilty of a tripping charge.

Collis ruled Licuria had tripped Kangaroos player Eddie Sainsbury, but he found the action had not been deliberate, intentional or reckless.

Licuria is now free to play against the West Coast on Friday night.

The tribunal cleared Hawthorn's Rick Ladson of a misconduct charge.
