Mossop, Brockhoff to be farewelled
Two great Australian sporting characters will be farewelled when Rex Mossop and David Brockhoff are remembered at funeral services in Sydney on Friday.
Mossop and Brockhoff, Wallabies teammates in 1949 when Australia won the Bledisloe Cup on New Zealand soil for the first time, died within a day of each other last weekend at age 83.
Both are even better known for their achievements after their Wallabies playing days.
"Moose" Mossop went on to be a dual international in rugby league before becoming league's premier television commentator from the 1970s through to 1990.
"Brock" Brockhoff coached the Wallabies for six consecutive years between 1974-79 and remained keenly involved in the game almost up until the time of his death.
Mossop will be remembered at St Matthews Anglican Church in Manly at 1.30pm.
Brockhoff will be farewelled at St Andrews College, Sydney University at 3pm.
