Former international rugby boss dies
Roger Vanderfield, a former chairman of the International Rugby Board, has died at the age of 80, the NSW Rugby Union said in a statement.
Vanderfield, a referee who officiated in 1,260 matches, including 14 Tests and 18 other internationals, was also a former president of the Australian Rugby Union. He died Thursday in Sydney.
He also helped organise the first Rugby World Cup in 1987 and was a member of the tournament's organising committee. His funeral will be held Friday.
