Brumbies coach Tony Rea views Saturday's visit from the formidable Stormers as good news for his struggling side, who are hoping to snap a five-match winless streak.

Down in 12th spot with just two wins from 12 Super Rugby matches, the Brumbies ended a run of four straight losses with a 13-13 away draw against Western Force last week.

The third-placed Stormers, South Africa's leading side, are coming off a superb come from behind 28-26 away win over another competition heavyweight the Blues.

"This is a good team and that's probably good news for us," Rea said on Friday, the day before the Canberra Stadium clash.

"It just means there's no bones about it, we've got to go out and play really well.

"When you're playing a good team with a good reputation, that's a good opportunity for us."

Rea said he wanted his team to go on the attack when the match got tight.

He said the testing fixture threw up a number of chances for his side.

"To get out and play well, it's a chance to be a team that's representing everyone really well again, it's a chance to just get out on that front foot at home," Rea said.

The match represents a history-making opportunity for the Stormers, who have a dire record in the Australian capital.

"As a team we have never beaten them away from home, so we would like to put the record right on Saturday," Stormers captain and flanker Schalk Burger said on the team's website.

"The Brumbies are a better team than the log suggests and we will need to be up for it, if we want to come away with the victory."

The Stormers are likely to give young five-eighth Kurt Coleman his first start, with number one pivot Peter Grant hampered by an ankle injury.

Springbok Jaque Fourie returns to the side, while another Test centre, Jean de Villiers, is on the bench.

Ita Vaea and Mitchell Chapman come into the Brumbies back row, though the Canberra-based franchise have lost Wallabies' skipper Rocky Elsom toan ankle injury.

Back rower Michael Hooper will temporarily return on Saturday from the Australian under 20 World Cup squad's camp in Sydney to sit on the Brumbies' bench.
