Cats overflowing with talent
Geelong have found themselves with a list overflowing with talent to pick from for Saturday night's AFL game against Sydney at the SCG.
Cats coach Chris Scott says he is hopeful defender Tom Lonergan will be fit to join experienced stars Andrew Mackie and David Wojcinski.
Lonergan is trying to overcome a calf strain while Mackie is back from an ankle injury and Mojinski is over an Achilles issue.
Scott admits that selectors will have trouble picking a side, especially after last week's whipping of Port Adelaide.
"Every inexperienced player that we've brought in this year has performed at least up to our expectations," Scott said on Tuesday.
"Some have exceeded those expectations and we've got some experienced players in really good form.
"How we fit them all in this week is going to be a challenge."
Scott said he would not accept any explanations if the Cats do not live up to the promise they have shown so far this season.
"There's going to be a lot of excuses for us this week if we play poorly, if we want to take them, but the boys are committed to not using any of those things as an excuse," he said.
"There's going to be more stoppages than we've had this year and it's going to be really hard in close for the contested ball.
"That's good for us, we really pride ourselves on that.
"We need to be tested and Sydney at the SCG gives you a pretty good test."
Scott also dismissed Geelong's recent good record against the Swans.
"None of those games have been at the SCG," he said.
"The fact that a lot of our boys haven't played at the SCG for a long time could be an issue."
