Carter officially named Geelong president
Colin Carter was officially elected Geelong president at the AFL club's board meeting on Tuesday night.
Carter was elected following the departure of long-serving president Frank Costa.
Gareth Andrews was appointed vice-president, with the Cats board electing the president and vice-president at the first board meeting of the year, as per the club's constitution.
The board also accepted the recommendation of the player leadership group for 2011, led by returning captain Cameron Ling.
Joel Selwood has been elevated to the position of vice-captain, with Jimmy Bartel, Joel Corey, Corey Enright, James Kelly and Harry Taylor the other members of the leadership group.
It is the same leadership group from the 2010 season minus superstar Gary Ablett, who was announced earlier this month as the inaugural captain of new club the Gold Coast Suns.
Costa was appointed as club patron, a position that had been vacant since the passing of long-time patron Alex Popescu last year.
