Former Bronco Carlaw quits French club
Experienced Australian forward Dane Carlaw has quit French Super League club Catalans Dragons for personal reasons.
The 30-year-old former Brisbane, Queensland and Australia second rower, who has been with the Perpignan club since 2008, signed a new 12-month contract in August but has now decided to take his family back home.
"I am very disappointed to leave the club and to not honour the contract I committed myself to but it's the best decision for my family and myself," said Carlaw, who made 71 appearances for the Dragons.
Catalans chief executive Christophe Jouffret said: "It is a loss for us but we understand Dane's reasons.
"We are currently exploring the possibility of a new recruit but we are also looking at the possibility of an in-house replacement."
