Brent Harvey set for 300-game milestone
North Melbourne captain Brent Harvey is hoping Hawthorn don't spoil his 300-game milestone by knocking the Kangaroos out of the finals race on Saturday.
Harvey will lead the ninth-placed Kangaroos (36 points) into battle against the AFL's bottom side West Coast at Subiaco on Sunday in the penultimate home-and-away round.
The `Roos are currently in ninth spot and six points outside the eight.
Harvey says he'll be keeping a watchful eye on Saturday's scores when eighth-placed Hawthorn (42 points) host Fremantle in Launceston.
If Hawthorn beat the Dockers, the Kangaroos have no chance of qualifying for the finals even if they win their last two games against the Eagles and Melbourne.
Harvey, who will play on next year, is set to join Glenn Archer (311), Wayne Schimmelbusch (306) and Adam Simpson (306) as 300-game players for the Kangaroos.
"We haven't had too many people play 300 games for our club, Schimma, Archie and Simmo," Harvey told a press conference at North's Arden Street oval.
"It's a bit of a dream come true I guess. We're still in the finals race so that probably means more to me than my milestone.
"We've got to rely on a few teams losing now which is probably not the position we wanted to be in.
"But unfortunately we are. So we'll control what we can control and that's hopefully get the four points over in Perth and rely on the Hawks to have a loss.
"I think (it will mean) a little bit when the season's finished and probably when my career's finished.
"To reach 300 games is something you don't plan when you first get drafted.
"You probably want to play one game and then 10 and probably 100.
"I've got a lot of friends and family coming over. That probably means the most to me at the minute, because it's in Perth.
"We've got 40-odd people coming over, friends and family. I'm really pleased."
