Harvey ready for Saints challenge
North Melbourne skipper Brent Harvey is taking a "no fear" attitude into a clash with rampant St Kilda likely to decide the Kangaroos' AFL finals hopes.
The ninth-placed Kangaroos are well within sight of making the top eight, though they need to keep winning to keep their destiny in their own hands.
But Harvey is confident his young side can rise to the challenge of St Kilda at Etihad Stadium on Sunday as they aim to secure a finals berth most thought beyond the club at the start of the season.
"I'm confident every single game I play," Harvey said when asked whether his side could cause an upset after a 104-point battering by the Saints at their last meeting in round two.
"Every time I run out, I expect to win, like the other 21 blokes who run out beside me. If that wasn't the case, I'd be extremely disappointed."
At 32, Harvey is one of the veterans in a team brimming with youth and learning its craft under rookie coach Brad Scott.
Harvey and fellow experienced player Brady Rawlings have hit outstanding patches of form - both pivotal in the Kangaroos' excellent win over Fremantle last weekend which maintained their finals push.
St Kilda, who torched Port Adelaide last weekend to frank their flag credentials, should provide a far sterner test than the Dockers.
Harvey has also been buoyed by his team's form, so much so that he is confidently talking of stretching his decorated career into a 16th season - excited about what lies ahead for the Kangaroos.
"I think I'm playing some OK football ... I still think I can improve next year as well," Harvey said.
"I still love coming to training, love spending time with the boys, it's pretty hard to not love coming to work with 48 of your good mates.
"It's a fantastic place to be around and I'm still enjoying it."
