Jonathan Brown to test dodgy knee
Lions skipper Jonathan Brown's hopes of playing his 200-game milestone this season hinge on a closed Gabba training session on Thursday morning.
Celebrations for Brown's milestone were put on ice on the weekend when he ruled himself out of Brisbane's home clash with Adelaide due to a corked knee.
In a season where the star forward has been hampered by a lingering groin problem, it's been feared the injury would prevent him from playing again in 2010.
But the Lions still hold hope Brown will play against Essendon on Sunday after updating his injury status on Wednesday, listing him as a test.
A club official said the 28-year-old spearhead, who has kicked 49 goals in 15 matches this season, would train on Thursday.
Fans and the media have been locked out of the session which would determine whether he was included in the team named that night.
Brown injured his knee late in the five-point win over West Coast in Perth where he still managed to kick the match-winning goal in the final minute.
He went close to declaring himself fit to play the Crows on Sunday after a 50-minute run on match eve.
Brown could still celebrate his 200th match in front of an adoring home crowd if he again goes close to proving his fitness this week.
The 14th-placed Lions meet Sydney at the Gabba in the final home-and-away round on Saturday week.
