Jonathan Brown ruled out for Lions
Milestone man Jed Adcock will lead the Lions on to the Gabba on Saturday night, and may also guide them throughout against Sydney with Jonathan Brown ruled out.
Adcock is in line to captain Brisbane in his 100th AFL match after skipper Brown's injury-riddled season finished one round early when he succumbed to his lingering groin problem.
In a major blow, the star forward pulled up sore following his four-goal haul in Sunday's victory over Essendon where he noticeably struggled in the second half.
Brown kitted up for training late on Thursday but was left out of the side with injured tagger Troy Selwood (ribs), meaning Mitch Clark will now likely line up in the goal square.
Albert Proud and Tom Collier have been promoted.
One of four vice-captains, Adcock led Brisbane in their seven-point loss to Adelaide a fortnight ago and has long been seen as a future leader of the club.
The 24-year-old is giving little thought to his milestone as he's determined to see the Lions finish a forgettable season on a high and also play party-pooper for the resurgent Swans.
Despite minor premiers Collingwood's run, Adcock rates Sydney the AFL's form team.
Wins over fellow finalists Western Bulldogs, Fremantle and Hawthorn in the past three weeks has propelled Sydney within one game of sealing a home play-off, and the chance for a second farewell game for outgoing coach Paul Roos and retiring captain Brett Kirk.
"Sydney have been the in-form team in the competition at the moment and that's what we have to focus on," Adcock said.
"They're the No.1 team in the comp over the last four weeks, they're playing really well.
"Competitiveness is what Sydney loves and hopefully we can match it with them.
"We're still fighting to come away from the season with some momentum going into next year and also to give our fans something to remember."
Adcock has played just eight games in 2010 due to injuries, which have curtailed his career since playing all 22 matches in 2007 to finish second in the club best-and-fairest behind Brown.
That season Brown kicked a monster 55m goal in round 20 to steal a draw against the Swans which ultimately put them out of the premiership race.
Adcock, who badly broke his leg last year against Geelong, didn't expect to bounce back as quickly from a broken foot to notch his 100th game in 2010.
"Not this year," he said. "I was probably a chance to make it last year and then I didn't look like I'd make it this year, it's been dragging out, dragging out."
