Swan was victim of assault: Magpies
Star Collingwood AFL midfielder Dane Swan suffered minor damage to his teeth when he was assaulted on Saturday night.
Collingwood said on Monday that Swan was the victim of an unprovoked attack while out with friends after the Magpies beat St Kilda at the MCG on Saturday.
Swan, 26, is in great personal form and is one of the fancies to win this year's Brownlow Medal.
Collingwood says Swan has been treated by a dentist and is expected to train this week and play Richmond at the MCG on Saturday.
"Dane was struck in the mouth in by an individual he'd never met before, causing minor damage to his teeth," the club said in a statement.
"As required Dane left the scene immediately, contacted the club and returned home.
"The dentist who attended to Dane has advised the club that the treatment Dane received will in no way impact on his ability to train or play."
