Richmond's Johnson needs knee surgery
Richmond ex-captain Kane Johnson will need surgery to repair knee cartilage damage sustained in the club's NAB Cup loss to Collingwood.
Tigers doctor Greg Hickey said an arthroscope on Thursday showed only minor damage but the midfielder would need an operation to have the knee cleaned up.
Hickey expected Johnson to be sidelined for several weeks by the injury, putting him in doubt for the start of the premiership season.
