Elliott gets the night he's been waiting for
Canberra NRL coach Matthew Elliott predicted a night like this would eventually come.
A night when the Raiders had the right attitude, patience and composure to ultimately annihilate their opposition.
It came in the form of a 50-14 walloping of Parramatta at Canberra Stadium at the halfway mark of the season and proved the Raiders were the leading premiership contenders.
For Parramatta, it was its worst defeat of the season and Canberra's 10th win, ensuring the Raiders remained alone at the peak of the NRL table.
"I think that was coming for a while," he said.
"I believed that once we put some execution in the back of the attitude that we've been displaying that the team we came up against us that night would be in a little bit of trouble.
"Tonight ended up being that night.
"I thought we showed great composure and when the blood was in the water we frenzied."
Canberra was so good even Parramatta coach Brian Smith couldn't complain about the heavy penalty count against his team.
In the end, the Raiders outclassed the Eels nine tries to three, with Phil Graham posting three, including a magical 98 metre effort.
