Thompson out for Raiders
Canberra's Joel Thompson is out of Saturday night's NRL clash with Penrith at Centrebet Stadium.
Raiders officials have opted to rest the young centre who suffered a head wound in last weekend's loss to Gold Coast.
Blood tests indicated Thompson, who was rushed to hospital early Sunday morning after his partner found him unconscious on the bathroom floor, still has low hemoglobin levels.
The 22-year-old had suffered a broken nose and cuts to his mouth which failed to stop bleeding - his blood pressure was so low that he had a fit while waiting to be seen at Calvary Hospital on Sunday.
Canberra coach David Furner said he was still weighing up his options over a replacement for Thompson, with either James Stuart or the versatile Blake Ferguson to slot into the centres.
Ferguson, who played the season's opening four games on the wing, has already been switched to fullback to cover for the injured Josh Dugan, with David Milne to come in at fullback if Ferguson is shifted to the centres.
