Lions ready to push Judd to limit
Brisbane coach Michael Voss says the Lions will aim to give Carlton skipper Chris Judd a torrid time on Thursday night and do whatever they can within AFL rules to stop him.
The Blues have been unhappy with the close-checking treatment their star midfielder has copped this season, which was highlighted in the first weekend of round 13 when Fremantle's Adam McPhee continually grappled and pushed Judd at stoppages.
But with their season on the line, Voss said on Monday the Lions would push the limit in a bid to curb Judd's influence at Etihad Stadium.
"As much as they possibly can do within the rules," Voss said.
"We're here to win four points, you do anything you possibly can within the rules of AFL to ensure that you give your team a chance to do that.
"If you're not prepared to do it, then go play marbles."
The Lions are in 11th spot and must beat Carlton (sixth) if they are any chance of reaching the finals, and Voss said a major turnaround was needed for Brisbane to break out of their doldrums.
"I could talk about all the different things that we need to do, but it's pointless talking now," he said.
"It's about us getting the job done on Thursday night."
Voss also played down the significance of Brendan Fevola's first game against his old club in Melbourne.
He said Fevola's clash against the Blues was "done and dusted" when the two sides played at the Gabba in round two, when the forward kicked three goals and the Lions won by 19 points.
