Judd cleared of serious damage
Carlton captain Chris Judd has been cleared of serious injury in what appears the only good to have come from the Blues' defeat to AFL rival Collingwood on Saturday.
Judd left the ground in the last quarter at the MCG after a collision left him nursing an injured pectoral muscle.
The Brownlow medallist made for a disconsolate figure as he watched the Blues go down by 48 points, while his injury sparked some fears he had hurt a shoulder.
But Carlton said scans on Monday confirmed Judd had been cleared of serious damage, which made him likely to play Essendon at the MCG on Friday night.
"He has a bruised pectoral and precautionary scans confirmed there was no major damage," Carlton said on its website.
Carlton are in seventh spot with four rounds remaining, but have lost five of their past seven games.
