Crow Thompson says GC link is laughable
Adelaide's prime mover Scott Thompson says his rumoured link with new AFL club Gold Coast is laughable.
Thompson, 27, has reportedly been targeted by the Gold Coast as a key priority for fledgling club.
But it's all news to the elite midfielder, who comes out of contract with Adelaide at season's end.
"To be honest it has been quite a bit of a surprise some of the stuff that has been written in the paper," Thompson said on Tuesday.
"I don't know where it has come from.
"I'm very comfortable with where my contract is at, at the moment and all those negotiations I'll leave to my football club and my manager to sort out.
"It seems to be if you're out of contract you're in the mix (for the Gold Coast).
"Blokes are more than happy to have a joke about it, but it's taken with a grain of salt, it's just a bit of fun and we sit back and laugh about what gets written sometimes."
Thompson, a battle-hardened 165-game veteran, said his manager had not spoken to the Gold Coast, or been asked to.
"I'm comfortable with where it's at, contracts do take time so I'm sure something will happen eventually," he said.
"If the right deal gets done I'm more than happy to sign (with the Crows).
"As I've said my manager and the club have spoken and that is where it's at, at the moment and I'm quite comfortable with that."
