Ennis happy for Blues to cop criticism
NSW hooker Michael Ennis has urged critics to keep putting the boot into the Blues ahead of next week's second State of Origin clash in Brisbane.
NSW were heavily criticised for their performance in the 28-24 defeat at ANZ Stadium last month, but Ennis said the Blues will use being written off to develop a siege mentality ahead of the Suncorp Stadium clash on June 16.
"I am really looking forward to it, and hopefully I am selected. I am familiar with the whole Origin set-up now," Ennis told AAP.
"I love playing up in Brisbane, I spent a couple of seasons up there and it is great stadium and the Queenslanders make it a great atmosphere to play in.
"Everyone is talking doom and gloom and that the series is gone, I don't know how the other guys are thinking, but I would imagine its the same as me, there is everything to play for and we are not out of this."
Ennis also refuses to buy into the argument the Blues' victory at Suncorp last year was diluted because the series had already been won by Queensland and said winning in Brisbane gives the side a psychological boost.
"Anyone who says that the win means nothing must not have been watching the way the game finished last year, they weren't happy!" he said.
"I don't think anyone can say that Queensland were happy to lose. They were going for a series whitewash and we were given no chance.
"Winning in Brisbane last year definitely helps, there will be a lot of disappointment from game one, but most of the team that will play next week will have played up in Brisbane last year and won," Ennis said.
"No team has ever played Origin and thrown the towel in. We need to win, they need to win, but we only got beaten by four points last time and people are riding us.
"We can't let that bother us, we have a job to do up there and no-one will fancy us to win and I think we can use that to our advantage."
