Matthew Johns 'sweet' with brother
Controversial rugby league personality Matthew Johns has revealed he's on speaking terms again with his brother Andrew.
The brothers, former star players in the NRL with the Newcastle Knights, had a falling out after both had endured high profile scandals.
Matthew Johns was blogging on a News Limited website following the debut of his new television show on the Seven Network on Thursday night when he was asked a question about his relationship with Andrew.
"Joey and I will be sweet, we started talking again," Matthew said.
In response to another reader who suggested Andrew and Matthew should work together on the latter's new show Matthew said: "I might give Channel Nine a call and ask when Joey's (Andrew) contract's up at Nine - good idea!"
Andrew is a commentator on the Nine Network.
Matthew alluded to some bridges being built with his brother on the new show, making several jokes about Andrew and pretending at one stage to be speaking to him on the phone.
Johns' long awaited return to TV came less than a year after he was let go from the Nine Network's The Footy Show in the wake of a sex scandal.
His brother had his own problems, the player widely regarded as one of the greatest the game has seen revealing in 2007 he frequently used recreational drugs during his career and was bipolar.
It was suggested the brothers hadn't spoken for six months because Matthew felt Andrew did not support him during his crisis the way he did during Andrew's revelations.
Almost 600,000 viewers in Sydney and Brisbane watched The Matty Johns Show with the league-based program out-rating Nine's rival The Footy Show by about 300,000 viewers.
