Franklin to challenge ban at tribunal
Hawthorn forward Lance Franklin will challenge a one-match suspension at the AFL Tribunal on Tuesday night in a bid to play against Collingwood this weekend.
Franklin was suspended for one game by the match review panel for a level one rough conduct offence against Western Bulldogs midfielder Jason Akermanis on Saturday.
Because of his previous poor record, Franklin was unable to have the sanction downgraded.
North Melbourne midfielder Andrew Swallow will also challenge a $2400 fine for making contact with an umpire during Saturday's clash with West Coast.
Brisbane duo Mitch Clark and Ash McGrath have taken early guilty pleas and accepted one-match suspensions, ruling them out of Saturday's clash with the Western Bulldogs.
Impressive Richmond first-year player Dustin Martin has accepted a reprimand and 93.75 points towards his future record for making forceful, front-on contact to Sydney's Josh Kennedy.
Hawthorn's Chance Bateman ($1800 for wrestling), Sydney's Kieren Jack ($900 for making negligent contact with an umpire) and Fremantle's Hayden Ballantyne ($900 for pinching Gary Ablett) have all accepted fines for various offences.
