Jarryd Hayne ponders new NRL deal
He's yet to sign his new multi-million dollar deal with Parramatta but Australian star Jarryd Hayne says the money won't go to his head.
Hayne, the 2009 Dally M medallist and arguably the world's best player on form, is all set to put his name to a four-year $2 million deal with the Eels.
But the 21-year-old was adamant his star status won't cause an ego explosion.
"When I signed last time it got to me a bit. I think I've learnt (from that) and now it seems normal," he said.
"Obviously I've had a good year and what not but I've got to keep backing it up.
"You're only as good as your last game and I should be worried about keeping that mentality, keeping that work ethic up."
Hayne is in no rush to sign his new contract, despite leaving for the northern hemisphere with the Kangaroos team on Friday.
"Might not happen, might even do it over in England," he said.
"I'm still contracted next year, it's not like time's running out.
"The contract's still there, I think I've done everything but sign the major one so it's not going anywhere."
