Hasleby baulks at Dockers' offer
Fremantle midfielder Paul Hasleby wants to finish his AFL career at Fremantle but has been left frustrated by the club's unwillingness to offer him a multi-year contract extension.
Hasleby is out of contract at season's end and is seeking a new two-year deal.
However, the club has reportedly only put forward a one-year extension, an offer the 28-year-old quickly rejected.
Hasleby missed the entire 2008 season with a knee injury but has been a standout for the Dockers this year.
In a midfield decimated by injuries, Hasleby has averaged 25 possessions and is yet to miss a match.
Hasleby, who has played 182 games for the Dockers since debuting in 2000, said he was keen to remain at the club but only on the right terms.
"Negotiations are still going on between my manager Anthony van Der Wielen and the club and they are trying to come up with the best deal that suits both parties," Hasleby told Channel 10.
"I certainly believe I've got two to three years of good football ahead of me provided I keep moving with the game and I look forward to doing another pre-season after missing part of this year's due to my knee reconstruction.
"I've given good service during my time at Fremantle and I'm really keen on ending my career with a long period of success, and hopefully that's at Fremantle because I think they are building towards something.
"I really want to be there when they are having their time in the sun."
Fremantle skipper Matthew Pavlich is good friends with Hasleby but refused to be drawn into the contract stand-off.
"He's had a great year coming back from a knee injury but it's not my position to be talking about contracts," Pavlich said.
But Pavlich praised Hasleby's ability to return to his best following a year out of the game.
"He's always had that uncanny, unique ability to win the football so I was always confident he would have a solid year," Pavlich said.
