Rivers to defend charge of contact
Melbourne's Jared Rivers will front the AFL tribunal on Tuesday afternoon after opting to defend an umpire contact charge.
Rivers was charged with negligently contacting umpire Justin Schmitt during the third quarter of his team's clash with Adelaide at the MCG on Sunday.
A first offence for negligently making contact with an umpire earns a $2600 fine.
Port Adelaide's Troy Chaplin has accepted a reprimand and 70.31 points towards his future record for striking St Kilda captain Nick Riewoldt when their teams clashed at AAMI Stadium last Friday.
