NRL bad boys return for matches
All is forgiven for some NRL bad boys after North Queensland and the Bulldogs welcomed wayward charges back to the fold for round seven.
After missing last round's breakthrough win over the Sharks due to disciplinary reasons, former Test prop Carl Webb and winger John Williams were named in an 18-strong squad for Saturday night's clash with Manly.
And Bulldogs young gun Jamal Idris was recalled for Sunday's showdown in Canberra after being dropped a month ago for an off-field indiscretion involving teammate Ben Barba.
But Parramatta centre Krisnan Inu was not so lucky.
Inu - who played for New Zealand just last year - was the only player dumped by coach Daniel Anderson following the club's embarrassing 48-18 loss to the Bulldogs last Sunday.
Anderson claimed after the game some of his players played without pride - something Inu will no doubt mull over when he runs out for NSW Cup side Wentworthville Magpies this weekend.
While Webb got an NRL reprieve after playing Queensland Cup last week "as if he swallowed a few angry pills", Cowboys coach Neil Henry admitted the enforcer only got a bench nod due to an injury to Clint Amos.
Back-up hooker Amos has suffered a suspected anterior cruciate ligament rupture.
"With Clint's injury Carl comes back in," Henry said.
"I expected him (Webb) to go up there (in Queensland Cup) and play strongly and he did that."
But Webb is not out of the woods just yet - plenty will be expected of him after Henry laid down the challenge for his forwards to lift against the Sea Eagles.
"We haven't had much dominance in the forwards for those games (we lost)," Henry said.
"We built on that against the Sharks and we will have to build on that again against Manly.
"(Anthony) Watmough has been running well, (Brett) Stewart's brother (Glenn), (Brent) Kite, (Josh) Perry - they've got some good go forward."
North Queensland's Williams - also named on a six man bench - is a chance of lining up against his sibling David after Manly surprisingly welcomed back the man they call "The Wolfman".
David Williams returns two weeks earlier than expected from shoulder problems.
At the Bulldogs, Idris moves into the centres after Josh Morris suffered a ruptured medial ligament in his big toe, requiring surgery this week.
"We are obviously extremely disappointed for Josh," coach Kevin Moore said.
"Jamal gets his opportunity back in the NRL. We all know he has enormous ability and he gets another chance to impress in the top grade."
Parramatta winger Etu Uaisele will make his NRL debut against the Broncos on Friday night.
The Tongan World Cup rep slots in for Eric Grothe (back) while Taulima Tautai replaces Inu in the centres.
Nathan Hindmarsh (wrist) is set to return after missing the Bulldogs debacle.
The toothless Sharks received some much-needed bite with Paul Gallen returning from a two-game suspension for Friday night's ANZ Stadium showdown with South Sydney.
Storm coach Craig Bellamy named an unchanged side but left the door open for Brett Finch, Sika Manu (hamstring) and Matt White (foot) to play the New Zealand Warriors on Saturday night.
St George Illawarra centre Matt Cooper (hamstring) and backrower Neville Costigan (broken hand) return for Saturday's traditional Anzac Day clash with the Sydney Roosters.
