Newton re-signs with Hull KR
Former Melbourne Storm forward Clint Newton celebrated his new contract at Hull KR with a hat-trick in their 48-18 Super League win over Celtic Crusaders on Sunday.
The 27-year-old penned a four-year deal to stay at Craven Park in the week and showed exactly why Rovers were so keen to keep him with an unlikely hat-trick.
Ex-Canberra youngster Michael Dobson also scored one of Rovers nine tries and added six conversions to continue his fine form.
Elsewhere, the Nathan Brown-coached Huddersfield recorded their third successive win on the road with a thrilling 26-24 victory at Castleford Tigers.
Giants winger David Hodgson scored a hat-trick but it was ex-Wests Tigers fullback Brett Hodgson's late try and conversion that secured the win.
A late try to former Manly great Steve Menzies could not save Bradford from going down 36-24 to Hull.
Two tries from Great Britain centre Kirk Yeaman helped Hull continue their flying start to the Super League season.
Former Melbourne Storm centre Tony Martin scored a try and four goals in Wakefield's 30-10 win over Catalans Dragons.
The Dragons sorely missed new-boy Greg Bird, who was back in Australia for legal reasons, and his availability will be crucial if they are to improve their slow start to the season.
In the weekend's other action, four tries in the first 30 minutes set Leeds on the way to a comfortable win over Wigan to also maintain their 100 percent start to the season.
Winger Ryan Hall scored twice with former Manly flyer Scott Donald also on the scoresheet in the comfortable 34-10 success on Friday.
But it was captain and England international Kevin Sinfield who stole the show with five goals in a faultless performance.
Former Sydney Roosters forward Chris Flannery scored St Helens fourth try in their 38-12 win over struggling Salford, also on Friday.
Jon Wilkin also scored twice in Saints win but it was a much-improved performance from ex-South Sydney coach Shaun McRae's side after their 48-18 home hammering by Harlequins.
Quins scrum-half Danny Orr turned in a stunning display in their 60-8 thrashing of Warrington at the Stoop on Saturday.
The former Wigan half-back scored a try, had a hand in three others and converted all 10 Quins scores as the hosts ended new Warrington coach Tony Smith's honeymoon period in emphatic fashion.
Replacement hooker Luke Gale also grabbed two tries to seal a third win in four matches for Quins.
