Punter places big NRL bet on Titans
A punter is hoping the Gold Coast Titans can claim the 2009 NRL premiership after placing a series of bets on them with TAB Sportsbet that could result in a $600,000 return.
The client stumped up $20,000 on the Titans at $23 to win the NRL premiership, a bet that could win $440,000.
The series of bets also include another $5000 on the Titans claiming the minor premiership at $26 and $10,000 on a top four finish at $15.
The punter doesn't have the same faith in Brisbane putting down $5000 on them at $41 for a $200,000 collect if they should finish with the wooden spoon.
The Titans premiership odds have trimmed up from $23 to $17 as a result of the plunge a week out from the NRL season kicking off.
Glenn Munsie from TAB Sportsbet said on Friday one punter stood to pocket more than $1 million if Newcastle win the premiership after putting $45,000 on the Knights at $23.
"If they win we will have to write him a cheque for $1,000,035," said Munsie.
Defending premier and World Club Challenge champions Manly remain $4 favourites to go back-to-back ahead of Melbourne at $6 and the Warriors at $9.
