Ablett backed to bag Brownlow Medal
Punters are pouring money in for Geelong's Gary Ablett to be named the 2009 Brownlow medallist on Monday night.
Ablett's odds have shortened from $3.00 to $2.85 on Brownlow morning, Sportingbet Australia says.
"We have taken more bets on Ablett this morning than all the other players combined, which is no surprise given the superb year he had," Sportingbet CEO Michael Sullivan said.
"We took bets of $10,000 and $5,000 on him among a mountain of other good sized bets and he is now clearly our worst result.
"Punters have certainly decided he is the one to beat.
"He has been the best player in the AFL for the past three years, though, and hasn't won a Brownlow yet so I am happy to take him on again tonight."
Sullivan said Collingwood's Dane Swan and Sydney's Adam Goodes had also come in for some support at $6.00 and $7.00 respectively.
