Saints accept AFL's Eddy explanation
St Kilda have accepted the AFL's explanation that the incident involving utility Robert Eddy and a field umpire was an accident.
Eddy is out for four weeks with a knee injury, following the collision during Saturday night's pre-season match against Brisbane on the Gold Coast.
The Saints sought an explanation after field umpire Ben Ryan clipped Eddy's leg.
"The umpire was running to where he's supposed to be, the two just didn't see each other," an AFL spokesman said.
The Saints say Eddy has a grade-two medial ligament injury in his left leg and will be ready for round one of the regular season.
