Glass retains West Coast captaincy
Darren Glass will continue on as West Coast captain after the Eagles finalised their leadership group for the 2009 AFL season.
Dean Cox will be Glass' assistant for the second season in a row while injury-prone forward Ashley Hansen, who managed just 13 games in 2008, has been replaced by Beau Waters in the leadership group.
Tyson Stenglein, who shared the vice-captaincy role with Cox last season, Matt Priddis and Adam Selwood are the other members of the leadership group.
The Eagles cleaned up their off-field act in 2008 but struggled on the field as the team posted just four wins - the worst return in their history.
"Our vision and values are constantly evolving and these changes reflect this," coach John Worsfold said of the naming of the leadership group.
"Darren Glass has proven to be an outstanding captain and continues to grow in the role.
"The elevation of Beau Waters recognises his growth as an individual in the last couple of years.
"I would also like to acknowledge Ashley Hansen's efforts last season. In one of the most challenging years for the player leadership group, he was integral in moving the club's culture forward to where we wanted to take it."
