Aussies ready for Fijian surprise
Australian prop Steve Price says the Kangaroos will be ready for whatever Fiji throws at them in Sunday night's World Cup semi-final at the Sydney Football Stadium.
Price says the Australians have little knowledge of the Fijian players as most of them play in local leagues and not in the NRL or English Super League competitions.
But that won't mean the Kangaroos will under-estimate Fiji as the minnows have surprised everyone with their performances to reach the final four for the first time in a World Cup.
"It is a game where we don't know a lot about some of these guys and we've just prepared as well as we can to get our game the best it can be," Price said.
"Whether you know the names (of the opposition) or not it's just knowing the things about individuals.
"We're going to be expecting anything. Our preparation has been the biggest focus and accuracy and all that sort of stuff. Whatever they put to us were going to be ready for it."
Price said the Australians were taking absolutely no notice of the pre-game talk that has tipped another Kangaroos annihilation.
Australia are unbackable favourites with bookmakers who in handicap betting have given the Fijians a 50.5 points start.
"I haven't taken any notice of it," he said.
"Throughout your whole career you only worry about what you can control.
"You can't control what people say and what people expect. What you can control is what you do on the footy field.
"What the betting is or what people think the score is going to be, we can't do anything about that until the game so there's no use worrying about it."
Sunday night's game will kick off at 8pm (AEDT) with the winner to play New Zealand at Brisbane's Suncorp Stadium next Saturday after England fell 32-22 to the Kiwis in their semi-final.
