Price keen to avoid another finals flop
The last time the crowds flocked to Mt Smart Stadium, the New Zealand Warriors flopped.
Steve Price is adamant they won't go away disappointed a second time.
The Warriors skipper was one of few finals-hardened players to run out for the Warriors when they hosted Parramatta in last year's qualifying final, the inexperience coming back to hurt the home side as they went down 12-10.
"It'd been two years for the team to have played in a semi-final, and a lot of the guys hadn't played in semi finals before," Price said of the loss to the Eels.
"It was a new experience for a lot of us.
"It was a really close game, there was nothing between the teams, and unfortunately we were on the wrong side that night.
"Anything could have happened that night, and luckily enough for Parramatta they got us and we got beaten."
Price showed all his finals experience in last week's surprise win over Melbourne, his constant badgering of referee Jason Robinson seeing the Warriors finish on the right side of the penalty count.
The Test and Queensland prop denied he had gone into the game with a preconceived idea to be in Robinson's ear, but claimed he felt it was his duty as captain to speak out on behalf of his players.
"I'm the only one who can speak to the referee, so if I don't speak to him, nobody does," Price said.
"It's my job - if there's something going on I'll communicate with the referee."
Asked if he thought Price had gone out of his way to influence the Robinson, Sydney Roosters coach Bard Fittler played a diplomatic bat.
"He's out there doing his best, he's out there trying to win so if he thinks that angle can work then he'll try it, there's not much you can do about that," Fittler said.
"They'll find something (to whinge about tomorrow night) I'm sure, there's not much you can do about that."
