AFL club St Kilda will demolish the main grandstand at Moorabbin Oval as part of a revamp to open the ground up for community use.

The Saints will move their training and administration base to Seaford in Melbourne's south in 2010.

Before then they will create new offices and training facilities at Moorabbin to serve the club until their relocation.

"It is a sad but inevitable day for the club as our buildings and grandstands are filled with memories and nostalgia," Saints chief executive Archie Fraser said.

"But today also marks a new chapter in our proud history that allows us to move forward and commence our exciting transition in 2010."
