Essendon suspends slacking Lovett again
Essendon have suspended Andrew Lovett for the second time this season after the speedy utility missed a compulsory training session on Monday.
Lovett, 25, apologised to the Bombers for breaking team rules and missing the session after he had been out socialising the previous night.
"We expect all our players to meet club standards and missing this training session is not acceptable," said Essendon coach Matthew Knights.
"Andrew is extremely important to this club and the leadership group wants him to make the most of his football career.
"We believe this two-game suspension is the right course of action."
Lovett will miss important upcoming matches against Richmond and Collingwood.
He was also suspended in late February for all of Essendon's pre-season campaign after skipping another training session.
Last year, he was fined $500 but escaped a criminal conviction for breaching an intervention order against his former girlfriend.
