AFL player Lovett on intervention order
Essendon pledged its support for Andrew Lovett after the AFL player was the subject of an intervention order.
The Melbourne Magistrates Court placed the order on Lovett on Thursday.
It is understood the order involves a former girlfriend of Lovett's.
"Essendon can confirm Andrew Lovett today had an intervention order placed on him in the magistrates court," the club said in a statement.
"This order was based on an incident that allegedly took place some months ago.
"The club has counselled Andrew and will continue to support him through its player welfare program."
Lovett, 23, made his AFL debut last year and has played 21 senior games.
