South Sydney have signed veteran outside back Colin Best for the 2009 and 2010 NRL seasons.

Currently with Canberra, Best, 29, has played more than 150 first grade games and has had previous stints with Cronulla, English club Hull and St George Illawarra.

"We're very pleased to be bringing someone to the club with Colin's experience and strike power," Rabbitohs chief executive Shane Richardson said.

The Rabbitohs have also renewed young back-rower Shannan McPherson's contract for another two seasons.

McPherson, 22, has played in eight of the Rabbitohs' 12 games so far this season.
