Chabal eyes French league return in 2009
French international second row forward Sebastien Chabal said on Saturday he is set end a five-year sojourn in England with Sale and head home as he mulls "several possibilities" for a move.
"I am going to return to France - that's certain," said Chabal after his side's 16-12 European Cup loss on Saturday at Montauban.
"I have a few possibilities but nothing definitive. I have not signed for any club," said Chabal, who has won 42 caps and is now a veteran at 31.
Late last year he signed a new two-year contract with Sale which would take him to the end of the 2009-2010 season but there have been reports he could go beforehand.
Chabal, who can also play third row, mentioned Montpellier as one possibility but told reporters "I'm also waiting to see what Philippe Saint-Andre does as he is also heading back to France."
Sale coach and former France captain Saint-Andre said earlier this month he is homeward-bound at the end of the season after five years.
Chabal was one of his first signings.
