Origin II hit a ratings record
Queensland's thrashing of NSW was the most watched State of Origin rugby league game in history, TV ratings show.
An average of 2.096 million TV viewers tuned in to the Nine Network as Queensland thumped NSW 30-0 to square the Origin series at one game all and set up a decider in Sydney next month.
The audience peaked at 2.494 million.
It beat the record set by this year's first State of Origin match, which attracted 2.092 million viewers.
Not surprisingly, the largest chunk of viewers were in NSW and Queensland.
But the game also attracted significant numbers of viewers in AFL-loving Victoria, where the audience peaked at almost 320,000.
Thanks to Origin, Nine smashed its competitors nationally on Wednesday night.
Nine had a 35 per cent share of the audience, ahead of Seven, which scored a 23.3 per cent share.
With Eddie McGuire filling in as host, Nine's A Current Affair continued its strong run, beating Seven's Today Tonight in Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide.
However it did not beat Seven's Today Tonight overall.
Nine's US sitcom Two and A Half Men attracted almost 1.3 million viewers.
Network Ten tied with the ABC for an 18.5 per cent audience share.
The ABC had five shows in the top 15 on Thursday night, while Ten had just one - the US series House.
More than 1.1 million watched the ABC's new show about the advertising industry, The Gruen Transfer.
