Ratten's opinion on Port 'doesn't sting'
Brett Ratten's assertion that Port Adelaide are an "outside team" sits more easily with Power coach Mark Williams than one might think.
Rather than railing at a comment from the Carlton coach ahead of their Sunday twilight meeting at AAMI Stadium, Williams said the label was merited for a team strong on attack but not so proficient in close.
Nevertheless, Williams said the Blues could expect to be surprised by an opponent that has upped its intensity around the ball over the past two weeks, starting with a narrow loss to an in-form Sydney.
"Brett has probably tagged us pretty well," Williams said.
"Maybe we try and do that too often, so it will be interesting to see how the players react.
"Every team is either one or the other (inside or outside).
"You are more of one or more of another, you are not completely 100 per cent or the other.
"It's just trying to get the mix right.
"It's his observation and we didn't count it, it doesn't sting (but) it probably heightens our awareness.
"We like to kick 20 goals, over the years we have kicked lots and lots of over 100 points and each time we go out to do that and entertain the people who come to the game."
Williams said the additions of Chad Cornes and Michael Wilson in recent weeks had added considerable steel to the Power's approach.
"Significantly better than we have been and with time we will get better," he said.
"Wilson and Chad haven't played too much and obviously we look forward to building that area."
Peter Burgoyne suffered a poke in the eye at Friday's final training session and was joined in an early departure from training by Kane Cornes, whose workload has been heavy in recent weeks.
Neither are considered in any doubt for Sunday.
