Port players must repay Williams' faith
Port Adelaide superboot Stuart Dew says it's time he and his teammates repaid the faith shown by coach Mark Williams by pinching a road win against the Kangaroos this weekend.
Williams has refrained from making wholesale changes to the Power's 22 after recent losses, despite the frequently patchy and often outright poor performances of numerous established players.
Dew said Williams' trust in the ability of his men had to be reciprocated at the weekend.
"There's been some guys out of form ... when you lose again a lot of people call for changes, but Mark did show faith, and then we'd come back with a win (at home)," he said.
"It's probably about time we showed our faith in Mark and rewarded him."
Dew admitted Port had its "work cut out" to beat the Kangaroos in Canberra, something the club has never done.
"On form against them people would've pencilled us in for a loss," he said.
"It's a massive challenge to go over there, we haven't beaten the Kangaroos often and never in Canberra, so we've got our work cut out."
Port Adelaide will stick to what has been a losing travel preparation formula, not altering the routine that has resulted in six away losses from seven games.
"It hasn't worked in our results this year, but we won't change anything, we're still confident we've got the routine and the personnel to get the points, so we'll go over there with the same pattern," said Dew.
