Teenager accuses AFL player of assault
Port Adelaide star Dean Brogan is being investigated by police after he allegedly punched a teenager before boarding a Melbourne-bound flight on Saturday.
Dale Mortimer, 19, whose nose was smashed in the incident, was reported to have yelled: "You're playing for the wrong team, you d*******."
Port Adelaide has confirmed the incident, The Sunday Herald Sun says.
"It is alleged the incident began with the individual verbally abusing Brogan," club media manager Hitaf Rasheed told the paper.
"An altercation resulted. The club and Dean are very disappointed the incident happened. It is well understood by the playing group that the course of action should be to walk away."
Mr Mortimer has made a formal complaint to police.
He confirmed what he said to Dean Brogan, the paper said.
"I thought he would be able to take it but unfortunately I was the one who 'took it' this time," Mr Mortimer said.
"He king-hit me."
The incident is the second angry outburst to rock the AFL this week.
A Kangaroos fan took his life after a heated exchange with North Melbourne coach Dean Laidley last Sunday at Telstra Dome, the paper said.
