Ponting expects Aussie fightback
Ricky Ponting doesn't expect Australia to be flat-footed in Grenada this week despite ending their record winning streak in one-day matches.
Ponting said Australia had plenty to play for in the last stop of the Caribbean tour even though they had wrapped up the seven-match series and seen the end of their streak at 21 matches.
The West Indies beat Australia by 39 runs in Trinidad on Sunday, leaving the tourists ahead 4-1 heading into the final games on Friday and Sunday.
The Australians will have four days resting at their seaside hotel in Grenada but Ponting expects the world champions will fight back from the loss.
"I'd be disappointed if we didn't," Ponting said.
"(The loss) was a wake-up for all of us if we don't play at our best then you can be beaten and that's what happened.
"We've got a few days off before Friday's game so there's plenty of time for the guys to freshen up and make sure we're a better team come Friday.
"We won 21 games in a row, I actually feel very proud that we've been able to achieve that. Very proud of all the players and the support staff for making that run continue as long as it did.
"I'm disappointed it ended - it would have been nice to continue it a bit longer - but I'm very proud of how we've done it and how we've gone about it."
Australian players Glenn McGrath and Michael Bevan suffered groin strains and Bevan is in doubt for Friday's match.
