SA's Tait in bowling display against Qld
Tearaway Shaun Tait celebrated his World Cup selection with four wickets in a bizarre display of speed bowling to spearhead South Australia to a one day upset over Queensland at the Gabba.
The Redbacks cruised to a seven wicket win and five Cup points, easily reeling in Queensland's meagre 177-run total.
Opener Matthew Elliott remained unbeaten on 89 with skipper Darren Lehmann not out on 30 when the Redbacks passed the target off just 37.4 overs.
Elliott, who battled superbly, was named man of the match.
While Elliott was immovable, it was the erratic but lightning quick Tait who set tongues wagging after his 4-32 speed spell.
Along with veteran Jason Gillespie (2-40) and Lehmann (2-25) they ran the cleaners through the Bulls brittle line-up with only skipper Jimmy Maher (51) showing any resistance on a wicket which really held no fear for the batsmen.
Named on Tuesday in Australia's World Cup squad for the West Indies next month, Tait was like a drunken sailor as he hurtled in at full throttle in his opening overs.
His wild first over cost nine runs and he completed his spell with 12 wides and a no ball next to his name.
But Tait also let off some firecrackers which explained his selection for the Caribbean.
The ball that dismissed Andy Bichel (21) - who had previously hoisted Gillespie high into the third tier of the Gabba grandstand - was sent down at such pace it forced the veteran pace bowler to tread on his stumps.
Tait then helped clean up the rest of the innings with the wickets of Chris Simpson and Scott Brant in quick succession.
Earlier young opener Ryan Broad (4) and top order members Craig Philipson (0) and Aaron Nye (4) all failed.
For South Australia Elliott's knock off 115 deliveries included 13 boundaries and his unbeaten 62-run partnership with Lehmann ensured the win.
The Bulls are all but assured of a spot in the final and are likely to meet Victoria, with the Bushrangers gaining homeground advantage should they beat Tasmania at Bellerive on Saturday.
