Symonds ruled out of World Cup match
Australian allrounder Andrew Symonds has been ruled out of the World Cup cricket match against New Zealand at St George's Park on Tuesday.
Symonds is yet to recover properly from the groin strain that forced him to miss Saturday's win over Sri Lanka at Centurion.
I feel like I am progressing nicely and improving each day," said Symonds, likely to come under consideration for Australia's final Super Sixes game against Kenya at Kingsmead, Durban, next Saturday.
"I pulled up pretty well after a decent workout at practice this afternoon, so there were no problems there.
"With the rehabilitation work I have been doing with (team physiotherapist) Errol Alcott, I am confident that I will be ready to play sooner rather than later.
"Hopefully that will be our next Super Sixes match."
Victorian allrounder Ian Harvey is likely to retain his place in Symonds' continued absence.
