Tuqiri sets himself foolish task
Rugby's biggest signing Lote Tuqiri has set a simple goal for his first Super 12 match - not to make a fool out of himself.
The months of NSW Waratahs training and trials are over, and rugby fans will make their first judgement on the million dollar league recruit at Aussie Stadium on Friday night against the Blues.
Tuqiri is well aware of the scrutiny he will be under.
"I played a couple of trials against some Super 12 sides which has been good confidence-wise, but tomorrow's going to be a good test," he said.
"I just don't want to go out there and make mistakes and make a fool of myself.
"I just want to get off to a good start."
The 23-year-old isn't feeling any nerves, but expects them to kick in when he gets on the team bus tomorrow night.
While it won't quite be like an Origin team bus drive past Brisbane's Caxton Hotel, he said he was looking forward to the build-up.
"Seeing the crowd come in, the butterflies will start to kick in ... I'm looking forward to it.
"I've probably played some of my best football at night.
