Waratahs sign Ratu Nasiganiyavi
The NSW Waratahs have kickstarted their recruiting process for the next Super 14 season by signing up exciting young winger Ratu Nasiganiyavi.
The hulking back has drawn comparisons to former All Black great Jonah Lomu because of his size and speed following his strong performances for Sydney grade side Randwick this year.
He will join his cousin Lote Tuqiri at the Waratahs after this season's Super 14 runners-up won the race to stitch up a two-year deal with highly-rated winger.
The son of former Fijian international Isei Nasiganiyavi said Tuqiri had played a big part in NSW gaining his signature.
"He's had a major influence on my game for the last couple of years, giving me encouragement, calling me up and wishing me luck and he's given me a lot of confidence," said Nasiganiyavi.
"Lote's still got a few years at the Waratahs and I'll be there with him too so if I get the opportunity to play alongside him that'll be awesome."
Nasiganiyavi will fly to Wales on Monday for the under-20 world championship.
"Six months ago I never would have considered it but anything can happen and it's hard to believe I've already put pen to paper," said Nasiganiyavi.
"I'm really looking forward to the Under 20s and when I get back we've got a big season remaining with Randwick."
