Kings equal franchise win record
The Sydney Kings equalled a franchise record with their ninth straight national basketball league win, downing Adelaide 113-98 at the Entertainment Centre.
The winning streak includes the final three matches of last season's title run and Sydney's six-game run to start the new year.
It matches the club record set in 1992 and equalled in 1996.
Adelaide entered the match in 10th spot and on a two-game losing streak and then lost captain Brett Maher prior to tip-off with a family matter.
But the Sixers put up a strong fight against the home side, which only sealed the result late in the fourth quarter.
Sydney captain Matt Nielsen led the way with 27 points and 16 rebounds while Martin Cattalini tried hard for the Sixers with 28 points.
The Kings can earn a new winning mark on the road against Cairns on Saturday.
